Full-Service Embryo Transfer and Artificial Insemination

Republican Valley Genetics is a full service embryo transfer and artificial insemination business located with RVAC just north of Alma, Nebraska. Our facility is equipped to handle several donor cows in our bio-secure location.

We offer both in-house and on farm bovine flushing and transfer, in-house donor aspiration for in vitro production of embryos in association with Trans Ova Genetics, and in-house and on farm artificial insemination services. In addition, we offer analysis of your recipient herd's health and nutritional programs, as this plays a vital role in the success of an embryo transfer program.

Please call in advance of your ideal service date, as our calendar fills up quickly in the Spring and Fall. Also, these are very time sensitive services that require extensive planning to successfully collect donors and transfer embryos. We would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

Domestic Flushing and Transfer

RVG offers both in-house and on farm embryo transfer services. Our donor facility can house around 70 donors.

Donor Health Requirements

  • Highly recommend that cows entering the facility are dewormed 2 weeks prior to entry.
  • Cow must be poured for lice 2-3 weeks prior to entry.
  • Must have a negative test for Persistent BVD one time in their life.
  • Calves with cows must be PI tested prior to entry.

Cows must be vaccinated against IBR, BVD, Vibriosis, and Leptospirosis. Please call for specific recommendations regarding types and timing of vaccines.

In-house flushing

In-House Flushing

Donors can be housed, set up on stimulation protocols, bred, and flushed in-house with the option of fresh transfer to synchronized recipients, or to freeze the embryos for later transfers. If the donors are collected in-house with the intent of fresh transfers, clients can haul their synchronized recipients in the same day to be processed through our working facility on the north end of the clinic.

On-Farm Flushing and Transfer

Donors can be collected on farm for fresh transfer to synchronized recipients. A clean, dust free environment, with access to electricity and water is needed for a mobile lab setup.

Please call in advance of your ideal service date, as our calendar fills up quickly in the Spring and Fall. Also, these are very time sensitive services that require extensive planning to successfully collect donors and transfer embryos. We would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

Other Services

We have breeding barns and chutes available for your on farm flushing, transfer, or artificial insemination needs.

We can store your frozen embryos. In-house tanks are filled every two months.

Trans Ova Genetics – Partnering with Practitioners

In-house Aspiration Services

We offer in-house aspiration services on donors every other Wednesday throughout the year. We require a minimum 5 cows to run on a given week. Aspiration of the donor, collection, and sorting of the oocytes occur in-house, then oocytes are transported overnight to Trans Ova Genetics in Sioux Center, IA for maturation, fertilization, and culturing. Frozen embryos can be returned after the collection (2 weeks from the date of aspiration), or fresh embryos can be shipped back at 7 days (post aspiration) for fresh transfers in synchronized recipients.

  • Donors can be run stimulated or unstimulated.
  • Donors can be pregnant during this process, with ideal being between 45 to 120 days pregnant.
  • Donors can be run every 2 weeks, regardless of whether they are stimulated or unstimulated.
  • Donors should be at least 45 days postpartum before attempting to aspirate, for best results.
  • Semen for fertilization of oocytes can be conventionally frozen (male AND female) and then can be resorted for either male or female post thaw. This is also the ideal situation to use sexed frozen semen (male OR female).

Please call in advance of your ideal service date, as our calendar fills up quickly in the Spring and Fall. Also, these are very time sensitive services that require extensive planning to successfully collect donors and transfer embryos. We would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

GENEX Distributor

We are a distributor of GENEX semen. Please call at least 2 weeks ahead of your need by date for the semen to ensure that it will arrive when you need it. We can provide direct shipment options; however, shipping costs will be charged. We do keep some semen inventory in-house; however, it is very limited.

We offer volume discounts.

Please give us a call. We would be more than happy to discuss bull options with you and help you order semen for your next herd sire today!
